Eliminate or Reduce Dependence on Gas with Green Power Cars
from:Green power cars are coming into high demand; with the price of gasoline and diesel fuel skyrocketing, consumers are asking for more fuel efficient cars. Since its inception, the green industry has sought for ways to preserve the environment. Now green power cars are on the market with hybrids, air powered, hydrogen-cell, total electric vehicles.
The hybrid green power cars have two motors; you can’t really tell when the gasoline motor is running or when it has shut off and engaged the electric motor. The Toyota Prius is a midsize hatchback sedan that has 110 horsepower from gas and electric power. These green power cars get more than 50 miles per gallon and can go from 0 to 60 in less than 11 seconds.
The Honda Civic green power cars gets 45 miles per gallon on the highway and 40 in the city. This is one of the sweetest of the green power cars with its 1.3 liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine combined with a 20 horsepower electric motor. Combined, the motors delivers 110 horsepower.
Green power cars save fuel by shutting off their cylinders when the electrical motor is in operation. The cylinders switch on and start to function when they are called upon to generate more power. Many green power cars have battery packs that collect electricity as it is generated when the gasoline motor is in operation.
Green power cars have evolved into a totally electric car fueled by a hydrogen fuel cell. The Chevy Sequel was the first of its kind, and it can get 300 miles per one tank of hydrogen. Green power cars, such as the Chevy Sequel is a totally green vehicle, producing no greenhouse gas emissions.
Green power cars using hydrogen fuel cells operated by completing a circuit between the hydrogen fuel and an oxidizer (oxygen). A flow of hydrogen is supplied to an anode and a flow of oxygen is supplied to the cathode of the fuel cell. The fuel cell acts like a battery; it creates energy from forming chemical reactions to the substances making contact with the anode and cathode of the fuel cell.
Green power cars operated by air compression will come to the United States by 2010. The cars are small and light weight as compared to the cars on the roads now. Due to the high prices of gasoline, consumers are looking for a way to escape the high cost of gas and oil. The air generated green power cars have already made their debut in India; a manufacturing plant will be built in built in New Paltz, New York. The price tag of the new green power cars will be less than $18,000. Soon we will have a choice to purchase gasoline operated cars or not.
