The Rewards of going to Green Power

from:

Green power is a type of renewable energy; actually it is a subdivision of renewable energy. It provides the maximum benefit to the environment, more than other forms of renewable energy. This form of renewable energy is power that originates from wind, solar, biomass, and biogas, as well as well as some smaller hydroelectric sources. As more people become educated in ways to prevent further damage to the environment, they are embracing these forms of energy to power their homes. Besides helping the environment, businesses are being rewarded when they switch from conventional power to green power.

Green power technologies are far superior to the technologies of conventional power, because there are no greenhouse gas emissions released into the atmosphere from these renewable forms of energy. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes green power comes from sources that were established since January 1, 1997. Green power sources renew themselves and never run out.

If you take a drive around the countryside you may see farms with pasture land with windmills standing tall rotating in the wind. These windmills are generators of electrical power. Wind generators have been around for quite a long time, and they are very efficient in providing electrical power for an individual home, and for a neighborhood. Some call the people that produce power in this way wind farmers or wind developers. Farms are perfect for producing green power from the wind because the turbines take up very little room. Wind farming is a good way to make money from pasture land.

The green power energy source found in biothermal energy is now being employed in some areas to grow foods. In colder climates it it is expensive to provide the proper environment for growing large amounts of food in greenhouses. Now many greenhouses are using animal waste; this is a very good way of reducing the methane that is released into the environment from cattle waste. Cattle waste is marketed and inexpensive, so if you don't have a cattle farm you can purchase it from a nearby farm.

Green power is also responsible for the livestock waste treatment plants that digest the bacteria in waste to produce energy cells. Treatment plants for livestock wastes protects the environment by preventing harmful bacteria from entering the groundwater. Treatment plants will purchase sludge, it is watered down and made into a slurry where it is heated in a chemical reactor. The carbon dioxide is removed from the slurry and the water is removed and sent to a water treatment plant. What is left is dried and turned into pellets that can be processed into e-fuel, a type of ethanol fuel that can be used just like gasoline in your vehicle.

The EPA recognizes companies with Green Power Leadership Awards; the awards go to business owners that buy renewable forms of energy, rather than purchasing from conventional energy sources. Pepsico, Wells Fargo, Macy's West, and Johnson and Johnson are just a few of the companies that were awarded for changing to green power.
